Premium Savala (onion) in a 500 g pack. Big onions are the starting point for most Kerala non-vegetarian dishes: slowly browned for chicken curry, beef roast and egg roast, sliced thin and fried crisp for biriyani, or chopped raw into a salad with cucumber and green chilli.
Store whole onions in a cool, dry, airy place rather than the fridge, and keep them away from potatoes so both last longer. Once cut, cover and refrigerate, and use within a day.
