Banana / Plantain Banana (nenthrapazham) in a 500 g pack. Ripe nendran banana is a much-loved part of Kerala food, eaten as it is, steamed (pazham puzhungiyathu) for breakfast with puttu, or dipped in batter and fried as pazham pori with tea.

Ripe nendran is also used in pazham nirachathu, banana halwa and payasam.

Keep bananas at room temperature, away from direct sun. They continue to ripen after delivery, and the skin darkening is normal. Avoid refrigerating them whole, as the skin turns black and the fruit loses flavour.
